Travel Vaccination Charges

The following vaccines are available and are covered by the NHS; no charge is applicable:

  • Polio/diphtheria/tetanus
  • Hepatitis A (currently unavailable globally)
  • Typhoid

Malaria treatment can be bought over the counter or via private prescription.

The following can be bought from a pharmacy:

  • Chloroquine (start one week prior to travel)
  • Proguanil (start one week prior to travel)
  • Chloroquine and Proguanil (start one week prior to travel)

The following malaria medication requires a private prescription from your GP. A charge for this will be applicable and you will be required to pay for the medication:

  • Mefloquine (start 2-3 weeks prior to travel)
  • Malarone (start 1-2 days prior to travel)
  • Doxycycline (start 1-2 days prior to travel)
